I warned artists almost 2 years ago that the game was changing… that sales/downloads/chartings would be impacted… that having a huge social media following would not impact sales/downloads or chartings… Not even having a big name… or big promo budget as we’re seeing with artists like Boosie and Khaled… The old model is dead. And is not coming back… Today artists like Boosie and Khaled find themselves in similar situation as indie and up and coming artists trying to adapt to the many, many, many, many changes in the industry. They had money to build strong foundations and their own platform… to completely bypass the industry machine and deal directly with their fan base, but neither had the foresight to see that this was the move… a move the should have been up on years ago. They weren’t and now they’re paying the price and getting clowned by those who did.<br><br>Also stressed importance of building a foundation and real base over purchasing fake friends, fans and followers and all the lil gimmicks and shortcuts. There are no shortcuts.
